Employee Health and Wellbeing: Practical Support for the Whole Person

Health doesn’t separate neatly into physical, mental and financial categories, and neither do the challenges employees face. Someone dealing with financial stress may find their mental health suffering. Someone managing a long-term condition may need both clinical support and workplace adjustments. Someone who has experienced trauma may need a very different kind of help from someone who is struggling to sleep.

My Group’s health and wellbeing offering is built around that reality.

Rather than a single product, it brings together a range of services that can be tailored to the needs of your workforce, from everyday wellbeing support through to specialist clinical services, occupational health, neurodiversity assessment, and training for the managers and HR teams who support everyone else.

Why does employee wellbeing matter to your organisation?

Physical and mental health challenges, alongside financial stress, can contribute to absence, reduced performance and people leaving. The employers who invest in wellbeing support may see the difference not only in absence data, but in how their people talk about their work and whether they stay.

Good wellbeing provision also signals something important to employees: that their employer sees them as a whole person, not a role to be filled. That signal matters for recruitment, retention, and the day-to-day culture of the organisation.

“The 24/7 GP access has been a real benefit. Employees have struggled to get GP appointments and it’s helped enormously – being able to access appointments virtually, get prescriptions sorted. It’s been a real game changer.”

What health and wellbeing support does My Group offer?

The services below cover a broad range of employee health and wellbeing needs, from everyday support to specialist care. Whether you want the whole suite or to select the services that will bring most benefit to your teams, we can help you put together the right package.

Employee Assistance Programme

A 24/7 confidential helpline giving employees access to qualified counsellors and advisers, alongside financial and legal guidance, self-help resources, and the Your Care proactive wellbeing platform. An EAP can provide a first route into support when employees are dealing with personal or work-related difficulties.

On-demand access to UK-based, GMC-registered doctors by text or video, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There are no appointments to book. Employees can start a request in minutes and receive medical advice or, where clinically appropriate, a private prescription, fit note, open private referral or second opinion.

Employee Counselling Services

A specialist counselling service that goes well beyond what a standard EAP provides. Delivered by video, it includes stepped therapy at standard and high intensity, EMDR therapy for trauma and PTSD, cancer counselling, bereavement support, couples counselling, surgical pathway support, and post-incident trauma care. For employees dealing with significant clinical need, this is where more structured, specialist support is available.

Occupational Health Services

A range of occupational health services to help employers understand and manage the health needs of their workforce, including workplace needs assessments, management referrals for psychological review, pre-employment psychological screening and annual wellbeing reviews. For HR teams managing complex absence or return-to-work situations, or in challenging environments, occupational health can provide evidence to help HR teams make informed decisions.

Neurodiversity Services

Assessment, screening and coaching support for employees who may be neurodivergent, including ADHD assessment and reporting. As employers become more aware of neurodiversity and the need to consider appropriate workplace adjustments, access to assessment and specialist coaching can support both the individual employee and the organisation supporting them.

Wellbeing Classes and Information

Live and on-demand wellbeing classes, digital fitness support, as well as nutrition and lifestyle guidance that employees can access on their own terms. This is the everyday layer of the wellbeing offering: the content and activities that help people feel better before anything goes wrong, and keep wellbeing part of everyday life rather than something people think about mainly when they’re struggling

Mental Health First Aid Training

Training programmes that equip managers, HR teams and nominated team members to recognise and respond to mental health challenges in the workplace. This includes Mental Health First Aider training, Psychological First Aid, trauma-informed leadership, and advanced trauma skills for roles that carry particular exposure.

Managers and colleagues are often the first to notice when someone is struggling, and giving them the right skills and confidence to respond is an important investment an organisation can make in its people.

How does support reach employees in practice?

Having the right services in place is one part of the picture. My Group’s Wellbeing Consultants can work with your organisation through group wellbeing education and training, building awareness of what’s available and helping employees feel confident enough to use it. For employees who need a guided route into specialist support, a human referral pathway may be available to help them find the right service without having to navigate it alone.
